Description of modern network technology

On those pages you will find hints and explanations besides information about the latest trends within the networking technology area.
We try to describe the technology behind the Internet and IP-networks as simple as possible, including the latest technologies for enterprise wireless implementation.
We are right in the middle of a revolution in communication technology in the world, Ethernet and IP has become the overwhelming most common protocols and become increasingly robust and standardized. There is no vendor any more that develop products with proprietary protocols which was common just 10 years ago.
The next step is to integrate all telephony systems into those IP networks, something that is not entirely painless. Real time traffic as telephony puts much higher demands on the network than early IP applications like mail, web and file transfer has done. When the IP networks is adjusted and dimensioned for real time traffic it will become an unbeatable media both from technologic and economic perspective.
The large Telecom operators has earlier made huge investments in old technology like SDH and ATM and those investments still have a couple of years until fully paid. When that happen IP as transport method will have a broad implementation. All operators today try to adjust their investments to the new technology, also called Next generation Networks (NGN).
